Niger Delta Development Commission Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate, Postgraduate and PhD students interested in furthering their education both in Nigeria and abroad.
As part of the commitment to Human Resource Development Initiatives initiated by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the body has began a Foreign Post Graduate Scholarship Programme aimed at equipping people from Niger Delta and Nigerian students at large with essential training, skills as well as supporting their education financially.
These will enable them to actively participate in the local content program of the current administration and compete globally in various professional disciplines.
This scheme is open to suitably qualified applicants who hold relevant Bachelor's or Master's Degrees from recognized Universities in the following disciplines:

NDDC Scholarship Application Requirements
Applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
- Possess a minimum of a second-class lower division for a Master's Programme.
- Have secured admission for a Post Graduate Programme in any of the listed disciplines at a recognized Foreign University.
- Note that applicants who are already enrolled in overseas Universities are NOT eligible to apply.
- Obtain a written consent of good conduct from a guarantor who could be a Member of National Assembly/State House of Assembly, Chairman of LGA, First Class Traditional Ruler, or High Court Judge from the applicant's Community/Clan.
- Applicants must not have any evidence of cult membership or criminal record.
- Applicants must have completed the compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
- All applicants MUST be from the Niger Delta Region.

NDDC 2024 Foreign/Local Post-Graduate Scholarship Application
This scholarship scheme is available to suitably qualified applicants who hold relevant Bachelor's Degrees from recognized Universities in the following disciplines:

The NDDC scholarship qualification is determined by the following:
- Applicants must be from Delta State, Nigeria, and have resided in Nigeria for at least five years.
- Applicants must be between the ages of 17 and 23 (inclusive) as of January 1, 2015.
- Applicants must have put for a full-time course at any accredited university in Nigeria and must not have been found wanting of any crime or offense involving moral disobedience.
- Applicants must possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent) for his/her first-degree program, also he/she must not have been a beneficiary of any previous scholarship from the Niger Delta Development Commission.
- Applicants must maintain good academic records.
- Applicants must provide proof of graduation from secondary school or its equivalent (General Certificate of Education (GCE); National Examination Council (NECO); West African Examination Council (WAEC)).
- Applicants must be willing to undergo a background check and sign NDDC's Confidentiality Agreement.
- All applicants must participate in the orientation program and a short interview.
- Applicants must sign the NDDC's Contract of Service and adhere to it.
- Applicants must not have a criminal record and should submit certified copies of their police clearance certificates with their applications.
- Applicants must not have been involved in any criminal or political activities.
- All applicants must have associated or be a known member of any political party.
- Applicants should be fit physically and must in good state of health.
Criteria & Guidelines for Qualification:
- Scholars must be from the Niger Delta region.
- Applicants must possess a minimum of five credits at one sitting or two sittings at most.
- Students must have a First Class Degree or Second Class Upper Division to be eligible for the Scholarship.
NDDC Scholarship Worth:
The value of the foreign scholarship will be based on the current exchange rate of the Naira.

NDDC Selection Process:
Shortlisting of candidates based on the following criteria:
- WASSCE/NECO results.
- Undergraduate degree classification (First Class/Second Class Upper).
- Local Government Identification.
- Conducting a Computer-Based Test (CBT) in each State of the Niger Delta by Consultants. The test will evaluate proficiency in English, Mathematics, and General Paper.
- Scoring a minimum of 70% in the test.
- Shortlisting successful candidates.
- Final verification shall be done via the Local Government Areas and Community Development Committees.
The NDDC scholarship, sponsored by the Niger Delta Development Commission, is valued at $1000 (500,000 Naira).
The scholarship is presented to qualified students who want to further their studies. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled full-time and demonstrate financial need. The scholarship is open to single parents between the ages of 25 and 45, who are enrolled full-time in an accredited 4-year college or university, community college, trade school, technical school, or graduate program.

Please Note the following about the Niger Delta Development Commission Scholarship:
- The Commission (NDDC) will not engage in any form of communication with candidates who are not shortlisted for the Computer-Based Test (CBT), those who are not invited for oral interviews, or candidates who are not successful during the oral interviews.
- Candidates from Oil Producing Host/Communities/Local Government Areas will be given preference as long as they meet the approved cut-off mark.
- The Commission aims to ensure a fair distribution of courses among beneficiaries within each State.
- Any form or deferment, change of institution or course are not allowed.
- The Commission has sole responsibility and absolute discretion to select her candidates based on the stated criteria, requirements and its internal considerations. The decision of the Commission is therefore regarded as final.
